BIPOC-led non-profit maternity program secures funding to bolster racial equity in the battle against COVID-19.

Historia Group is excited to announce that Zora’s Cradle has been awarded $50,000 as a Building Power Champions Fund grantee partner! The Building Power Champions Fund is a partnership between Moore Impact and Pivotal Ventures, a Melinda French Gates Company.

Moore Impact reinvests resources in “Power Champions,” a cohort of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) -led enterprises working at the intersection of racial equity and the COVID-19 response to foster long-term sustainability and innovation. Moore Impact is one of the only Black-founded and Black-led philanthropic intermediaries in the United States and reinvests in BIPOC-led organizations across the United States.

“We are honored to be selected as grantees. As a minority organization, securing funding often proves fruitless. We are humbled by this recognition and excited to enhance our programming with the funding,” said Shemika Whiteside, Founder and Executive Director of Zora’s Cradle. “This grant will help provide tools to allow Zora’s Cradle to continue our mission of serving and improving our community by providing services to those most in need. Moore Philanthropy has been supportive of our work since our initial launch, and our goal is to represent them to the best of our abilities and generate successful client outcomes.”

This funding was created to bolster racial equity and grassroots movement-building efforts across the country, emphasizing those communities highly impacted by COVID-19. Zora’s Cradle will utilize this funding to support its ongoing mental health and community-based interventions to impact BIPOC maternal morbidity amongst women in Louisville.

Historia Group is proud to support Zora’s Cradle to enrich its operations and maximize growth within their mission-led organization. Check out their Facebook page to find out how you can support this organization through volunteering, community organizing, and community education!
